Nutrition isn’t hard because you lack discipline. It’s hard because you’re human!

I’m honestly bored of fitness and nutrition coaches saying, “Nutrition is easy, just be disciplined.”

Because yes, the principles of good nutrition are simple. The practice is not.

Real life doesn’t happen in a calm, well-slept, stress-free bubble.

It happens with kids, broken sleep, mental load, work, hormones, pregnancy, perimenopause, stress, and a body that doesn’t always feel like yours.

I know exactly how I should be eating. I know what supports my health, my training, and my energy. And yet, especially during pregnancy, it’s still hard.

Not because I don’t care.

Not because I lack discipline.

Not because I don’t have the knowledge.

But because when you’re tired, uncomfortable, overstimulated, or emotionally drained, the pull toward comfort is real.

Food isn’t just fuel in those moments.

It’s relief.

It’s pleasure.

It’s something that feels good when so much else doesn’t.

And pretending that this is just a “discipline issue” helps no one.

Good coaching isn’t about telling women to try harder. It’s about helping them navigate real life, imperfect days, changing bodies, and seasons where doing your best looks different.

That’s the work.

That’s the nuance.

And that’s why nutrition is simple on paper, but human in practice.
